Plushies
Original character Plushies
Converting my 2D illustrations into physical 3D plushie toys, featuring 3 characters:

Bucky the fox

Rat Witch
Scrubby the elephant

Process

I first designed my original characters, trying to keep them simple so that each plushie maintains their shape and is easily recognisable.

put png characters on colour or white background

3d Model & Sewing pattern

Taking the 2d sketch, I used Blender to 3d model the desired shape as well as using Thomas Kole’s addon - Seams to Sewing.

This allowed a sewing pattern to be made when UV Unwrapping.

I split the characters into their separate body parts, further spliting them into smaller panels. This made the project more time consuming but if I was to remake the sewing patterns now, I would model the 3D version but instead sketch out the pattern into bigger and create test mockups first.

Die cutting:

As character design is also routed in World building, I imagined each one in specific scenarios. I was able to die cut these props to use in the final photoshoot.
